Review:
Firemen, when they're not on strike are some of the most important people that you could ever meet.. Livesavers extraordinare.

Thinking this, someone decided to do a nice little game about them. In doing so they created one of the most addictive action games I've ever played.

The year (in the game buttwad) is 2010 and apparently civilisation has progressed very little in the last 20 years (even though it would be only 16 years - game was released in 1994). You are called to a fire at a chemical facility which is slowly engulfing the building. To make things worse, the staff christmas party was on at the time. (knocked over a candle when drunkenly shagging then ;) ). The fire started in the kitchen and spread sue to the abundance of chemicals - thats one for health and safety.

Basically the game is somewhat akin to most top down shoot them ups. Except instead of high powered lasers you have hoses, and instead of smart bombs you have er hi-tec.. water balloons.

You have two levels of hose, one to deal with the bigger fires and the other take out the smaller embers.. any youre close to youre axeman will attack for you - saving you some work.

Occasionally, you will have someone to rescue, it doesn't seem to have a time limit with this and to be honest adds no value to your "quest".

At the end of most levels, you have "boss flames", all of which travel to a set patter but worryingly show some intelligence later on - leading me to think theres more to this.

Graphics work well, really cutesy but it doesn't make you vomit as much. The sound is full of wooshing fire effects and snappets of music - again nothing too offensive.

All in all this is a very good game, perfect balance and great originality -- something you dont see a lot anymore :(
